Where You'll Spend Your Time
About This Program
The Franciscan Health Indianapolis Family Medicine Residency is changing with the face of medicine. The resident curriculum is periodically updated to ensure our residents receive the most credible information, education and experiences available.
Residents spend most of their first year working in the major specialty areas of Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Intensive Care, Obstetrics and Cardiology. The residents also spend two half-day sessions each week seeing their own patients in the Family Medicine Center.
During their second year, residents concentrate on further training in various specialties. Responsibilities increase for the care of obstetrical patients and residents spend four half-day sessions each week seeing their own patients in the Family Medicine Center.
An increased number of electives allow third-year residents to focus on personal career interests. The residents continue to see patients in the Family Medicine Center four half-days per week. Residents also serve two months as clinical chief resident of the Family Medicine Service.
