About This Program
The University of Michigan Family Medicine residency is committed to the provision of high-quality primary care within our local community as part of a rich academic setting. We believe that a commitment to principles of diversity and equity creates a rich learning environment and a more supportive patient-care environment. We utilize principles of evidence-based medicine to train learners in the core clinical skills of broad-spectrum family physicians, including outpatient practice, inpatient practice, behavioral health, medical procedures, pediatrics, and obstetrics. We prepare our graduates for a wide range of family medicine careers, including community practice, teaching and research, in settings within the state of Michigan as well as nationally. We are committed to the integration of biomedical, humanistic, and psychosocial principles in education, research, and patient care, and we maintain a supportive community that fosters personal reflection and wellness as integral components to professional growth and development.
