About This Program
Oregon Health & Science University has a dynamic and leading residency program, with superb clinical experience and successful alumni. The program is remarkable in its breadth and depth of coverage of all areas of operative and clinical neurosurgery. Chief residents graduate with approximately 1400 cases (300 more than the national median). The program meets and exceeds all areas of case exposure as defined by the ACGME. Most importantly, experience is gained in a respectful and supportive environment, which is notable for its success in mentoring men and women from medical schools across the United States. Currently matching 3 alternating with 2 residents each year (for a total complement of 17.5), the program has perfect ACGME accreditation, and is noted for educational innovation (the Neurosurgery Boot Camps originated at OHSU, and OHSU program faculty have led introduction of the national curriculum and neurosurgery milestones).
