About This Program
The LSU program is a multi-site, three-year ACGME accredited ophthalmology residency. We have a dynamic didactic schedule, including weekly grand rounds followed by question sessions, monthly subspecialty lectures and visiting speaker lectures. Residents are also required to participate in basic and/or clinical research activities with a faculty mentor and present during yearly research day.
LSU provides the opportunity to care for thousands of patients in an autonomous/supported environment, exposing residents to all ophthalmology subspecialties. The residency program promotes a collegial environment starting with the faculty and translating to the interactions between the residents, with faculty, ancillary staff and patients. We offer a diversity of patient populations and systems with the goal of enabling residents to achieve mastery of ophthalmic diagnosis and treatments and uphold the highest standard in patient care. Excellence in education and wellbeing of residents and faculty, as well as patient’s wellbeing are our priorities.
