About This Program

The Montefiore-Einstein Ophthalmology residency is a clinically rigorous comprehensive training program in the diverse Bronx borough of New York City. Residents see an array of disease in multiple clinical sites and benefit from a commensurate high procedural volume. The program has an integrated medicine intern year, which includes 6 months of ophthalmology and related elective time. The newly developed Ronald M. Burde Laboratory is among the most advanced microsurgical simulation laboratories in the country and is complemented by a surgical training curriculum that employs simulation in addition to other modalities. Resident wellness initiatives include a night float system, on-campus housing, call facilities, and a host of other incredible academic and institutional benefits. International electives have been established in both South Asia and Central America. Service-oriented applicants who appreciate a strong esprit de corps and have a desire to work in busy clinical settings with advanced pathology will flourish at Montefiore-Einstein.
