About This Program

Our Ophthalmology Residency Program at the University of Cincinnati provides exceptional clinical and surgical training for its 12 residents. A large and talented faculty provides broad-based individualized training with a high faculty to resident ratio. A key element of our training program is the supportiveness of the faculty that creates a collegial atmosphere for residency training. Resident training occurs at four major centers: the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the Cincinnati Eye Institute, the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. Residency training is optimized through experiences in hospital based resident clinics as well as private practice. The city of Cincinnati’s multiple amenities provide a large list of easy access activities including sporting events, Broadway shows, great restaurants, museums, and bike trails. Residency selection is based on academic achievement, character, high potential to be an outstanding clinical ophthalmologist, and specific interest in our program.
