About This Program

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Ophthalmology Residency Training program offers superb clinical and surgical training at multiple sites (including a University Hospital, a large VA Medical Center, a dedicated children’s medical center, and two outstanding county hospitals – Parkland and John Peter Smith) with state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated faculty. We have a truly integrated internship focused on disciplines that will enhance the trainee’s future practice of ophthalmology. With nine residents per year and several Level I trauma sites, we are able to provide the trainee with a learning experience across the broad spectrum of ophthalmology with multiple full-time faculty in each of the subspecialties. This, combined with the myriad cultural and recreational opportunities in the Dallas area, make UT Southwestern an ideal place to forge the foundation of your ophthalmologic career.
