About This Program
Huntington Hospital is a 619-bed non-profit, community-focused regional medical center based in Pasadena, CA, providing internal medicine residency training. Our program has a 25-resident capacity, fostering an intimate learning experience. Launched in 1955, the mission of the hospital is to provide inpatient and outpatient care to the community. The goal of our program is to develop outstanding internists through superior training for careers in primary care or hospital medicine, or for subsequent fellowship training in a variety of sub-specialties. The program’s learning environment allows each resident to acquire not only the requisite clinical skills and medical knowledge, but also the professional attitudes and behaviors, effective communication techniques and self-assessment tools that are essential to the successful practice of medicine. In addition, we espouse the “resident as teachers” mantra, accommodating medical students on our inpatient services. Residents also rotate through our affiliates at LAC-USC medical center and City of Hope, gaining tremendous subspecialty tertiary care experience. Innovative programs such as a global medicine rotation in Tanzania, hospitalist programs, and palliative medicine make Huntington Hospital a unique and desirable place to train.
