About This Program

The University of Arizona Pediatrics Residency is a medium-sized, academic program that recruits 16 categorical Pediatrics residents and 3 combined Emergency Medicine-Pediatrics residents each year. The program has a robust curriculum which provides exciting opportunities in both advanced, quaternary healthcare and community healthcare. Residents care for a highly culturally-diverse patient population, including international refugees, Hispanic immigrants, and American Indians, and encounter significant advocacy needs on a daily basis. This is a resident-driven program, so that education and mentorship occur directly with the faculty. Other educational interventions include a protected teaching half-day, extensive SIMS experiences, and aggressive support of residents-as-teachers. Residency graduates have been highly competitive in post-graduate careers ranging from first-choice fellowship matches to FQHC community care centers, private practices and public health service. This high level of education and experiences occurs in a warm, incredibly supportive and responsive environment where resident wellness and resilience are key. Welcome to UA Peds!
