About This Program

Our pediatric residency program features a balanced and individualized training curriculum in a supportive and resident-driven learning environment. The Penn State Children’s Hospital is home to the only PICU, intermediate care unit, and Level IV NICU in our region. Our large catchment area offers a wide array of patient diversity, acuity, and complexity. The hospital is currently undergoing a vertical expansion to open in November 2020 featuring a new NICU, post-partum unit, and expanded acute care unit. The town of Hershey, located 13 miles from the state capital of Harrisburg, is home to Hersheypark and the Hershey Company. Hershey is an easy and affordable place to live, where residents are able to rent apartments or purchase homes in safe neighborhoods with highly rated public schools all within a few miles of the hospital. The Harrisburg/Hershey area is ranked #44 in the 2019 U.S. News “Best Places to Live” rankings.
