About This Program
The ETSU Department of Pediatrics Residency Training Program is a university-based training program affiliated with a community children’s hospital partner, Niswonger Children’s Hospital. Our residents are exposed to premier specialty care through our affiliation with St. Jude’s Cancer Center and Niswonger Children’s Hospital. We have an active core of subspecialists who participate in educational conferences and clinical training.
Our residency program is nationally known for its ReadNPlay program created by our residents and faculty as a way to advocate for healthy living starting at birth. The ReadNPlay program is an on-going collaborative effort to encourage families in the region to Play More, Play Together, Play Safely, and Fuel to Play.
In summary, we are a small program with opportunity for hands-on training in an environment that promotes collaboration amongst all levels of trainees and faculty. Our strong educational curriculum, robust simulation training and community outreach projects, help develop future general or specialty pediatricians that will be well equipped to serve their patients and community
