About This Program

The MedStar Health/Georgetown-National Rehabilitation Hospital PM&R Residency Training Program has a four-year categorical educational curriculum. Residents will spend their PGY1 year alongside the MedStar Washington Hospital Center interns in Preliminary Medicine and will complete PGY2-4 at the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital and other sites.

Our program has many unique features including:

-four elective months starting as early as the PGY2 year
-musculoskeletal ultrasound track
-research track with the National Institutes of Health
-weekly continuity clinic
-regular physician wellness activities

-racial justice, diversity, equity curriculum
-a broad-based curriculum with access to all PM&R subspecialty areas
-ACGME accredited sports medicine and brain injury medicine fellowships and a non-accredited cancer rehabilitation medicine fellowship
-pediatric rehabilitation fellowship (and core rotations) at nearby Children’s National Medical Center

-nearby NASS accredited spine fellowship run by one of our core faculty members
-abundant sports event coverage opportunities
-electrodiagnosis training at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
