About This Program

Stamford Hospital is a regional referral center in southwestern Connecticut affiliated with the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. Clinical training is supported by a state-of-the-art hospital facility, an academic environment with a broad range of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and a diverse patient population. The learning climate emphasizes patient-centered care and inter-professional collaboration. Residents learn to manage diverse medical issues across the spectrum of inpatient, intensive care and ambulatory settings. Program components include modified block scheduling that allows for relative separation of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and a comprehensive didactic curriculum delivered in a protected academic half day format. Substantial opportunities for research are available through our Office of Research and collaboration with faculty investigators. The relatively small size of the program allows individualized, tailored educational plans to meet each resident’s needs and meaningful faculty mentorship to guide career decisions.
