About This Program
The Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health offers a dynamic general psychiatry residency program that emphasizes the connection between mental and physical health. Ohio State is the third-largest university in the country, with both a major health system and seven health sciences colleges located on one campus. A core competency-based didactic curriculum is designed to improve residents’ clinical expertise, formal knowledge, critical thinking, professional integrity, leadership and communication skills. The residency provides comprehensive training in both psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic patient care. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is consistently ranked among the nation’s top academic health centers by U.S. News & World Report. We value diversity as a driver for excellence in medicine, so we prioritize increasing the number of young minority residents. One of the strongest aspects of this psychiatry residency program is the diversity of its residents and the sense of friendship they share.
