Where You'll Spend Your Time
About This Program
Ochsner Health System urology offers state of the art training in all aspects of urology. Graduates from this program are excellent surgeons and clinicians who graduate with the ability to treat any patient. You will also have the training and resources to obtain a fellowship if you desire. Our faculty is diverse and collegial with all subspecialities well-represented. We take pride in the good rapport not only amongst residents but also between residents and faculty. Ochsner will provide you with a breadth of experience, leaving you equally prepared for either private practice or academics.
We match 2 residents per year, and it is a 5 year program. 6 months will be spent on general surgery during your PGY-1 year. The remainder of your training will be spent on the urology service where you will be exposed to all aspects of urology including female urology, infertility, pediatrics, oncology, endourology, and robotics. The resident surgical case logs far exceed the ACGME required minimums. Residents see patients in both the hospital and clinic setting. The residents have their own clinic in which they are able to maximize autonomy and prepare themselves for their post-training urologic practice.
