About This Program

The Children’s Mercy Pediatric Neurology Residency provides excellent clinical exposure in an environment that promotes camaraderie and close relationships with your colleagues. We are an integrated child neurology residency with a class size of three residents per year. Residents complete two years of pediatrics training at Children’s Mercy Kansas City, followed by an adult neurology year at The University of Kansas Medical Center, then two years of child neurology training at Children’s Mercy. Our program strives to tailor the educational opportunities for each resident to create an individualized program based on their interests. Residents rotate through inpatient and consult services, and in multiple subspecialty clinics, with dedicated time for the development of a scholarly project with the aid of a mentor. We offer a Basic Neuroscience Track for residents with extensive research experience. Residents who complete our program move on to competitive fellowships and jobs in academia and private practices.
