About This Program

Residents at the University of Rochester learn by seeing an extraordinarily diverse patient population supported by outstanding faculty in an academically rigorous, collegial, and fun learning environment. Rochester is the home of the Biopsychosocial Model and Rochester was ranked #1 of 306 communities for providing healthcare at the lowest cost per Medicare beneficiary, so residents learn to practice medicine in an environment that emphasizes understanding the whole patient, patient-centered decision making, high quality communication, and providing high value care. Our residency has a number of unique strengths, including cutting-edge ambulatory training; a rich, collaborative research environment; and training that emphasizes the breadth of internal medicine while integrating training in quality improvement, the social determinants of health, POCUS, teaching, and bedside procedures. Please visit our website at http://internal-med-residency.urmc.edu to learn more about our program, our wonderful residents, and all of the amazing outdoor and cultural opportunities in the Upstate NY region.
