About This Program

MMC has a tradition of excellence in radiology residency training. Our diagnostic radiology residency was established in the 1950s as one of the first GME programs in the hospital. The first IR resident clinic in the United States was founded at MMC in 2008. Established in 2016, our integrated IR residency was among the first 12 programs accredited by the ACGME. The MMC DR and IR programs remain the only radiology residencies in Maine. MMC is a 637-bed tertiary referral center and Maine’s only Level I Trauma Center. Our faculty consists of 43 radiologists (10 interventional radiologists) and 3 PAs. There are 3 DR and 1 IR residents per year. The program is located in Portland, Maine, a historic seacoast town with a funky vibe, working waterfront, hundreds of galleries and unique shops, and award-winning restaurants. We accept applications until October 1 through ERAS. Come do your residency in Vacationland!
