About This Program

The UF Anesthesiology Residency Program is committed to the development and training of our specialty’s leaders of tomorrow. Our graduates possess an outstanding set of clinical skills and a foundation for lifelong learning, resulting in superior preparation for any practice setting. As a tertiary referral center for the Southeast, UF Health Shands provides our residents with a diverse case mix with challenging comorbidities. The collegial learning environment includes TEE/TTE training, superb training in regional anesthesia, and a unique “Transition to Practice” rotation for PGY4s that simulates private practice. Most residents meet ACGME case minimums early, providing flexibility for elective subspecialty rotations during the PGY4 year. The department supports residents with a generous Professional Development Allowance, conference presentation sponsorship, society memberships, licensure, and performance incentives. Residents are encouraged to participate in or lead research and patient safety and quality initiatives. The department is also home to several clinical fellowship opportunities.
