About This Program
The University of Michigan (UM) Department of Dermatology seeks to train world-class dermatologists. Our Residency Program combines compassionate care and sound clinical judgment with technological resources of a major research institution, while fostering diversity and inclusion.
Residents are trained in an atmosphere that promotes intellectual stimulation and academic growth. Residents experience diverse clinical settings, including a robust academic medical center with an outpatient and inpatient service and a Veterans Administration hospital. Residents train in general and complex medical dermatology, contact dermatitis, inpatient hospital consults, pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology. Residents are exposed to multidisciplinary patient care and diverse clinical philosophies and patient populations. Residents work with faculty who are leaders in dermatologic education and research. We cultivate a supportive environment where teaching and learning are foremost priorities. Clinical experience is bolstered through a robust didactic experience; residents are provided 8 hours a week of protected didactic time.
