About This Program
The primary goal of the Dermatology residency program at the University of Missouri - Columbia is to provide excellent clinical training. Our residents receive comprehensive, well-rounded training in clinical adult and pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology and dermatologic surgery. They use state of the art methodologies to provide patient care including a robust teledermatology service both at the University Hospital and our affiliated VA Hospital. They also participate in ECHO (Extension for Community Health Outcomes) to enhance dermatology education to primary care providers in rural parts of the state to increase dermatologic care of patients in these areas with poor access. Continuity clinics begin in the first month of residency and continue through graduation, allowing our residents to build an established patient panel to both develop relationships with their patients and to also learn from following disease courses over a span of three years. We also value wellness and balance in lives of our residents and ensure protected time for them to read and participate in scholarly activities within their normal “duty hours."
