About This Program
The Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology of the NYU School of
Medicine has a rich history as a pioneer in the field since its beginnings in
the 1800’s as the first American institution devoted to the care of
cutaneous diseases and cancer. Many current and past leaders of
dermatology in America and beyond – and many fine departments - can
trace their origins to NYU. Our residents are guided by world-renowned
faculty as they rotate through a wealth of general and specialty clinics at
NYU’s Skin and Cancer Unit, Bellevue Hospital (the oldest public hospital
in the US), and the Manhattan VA. Our trainees build a deep fund of
knowledge in general dermatology and across all medical and procedural
subspecialties and dermatopathology. Graduates of our program match
into competitive fellowships and are sought after for academic
appointments at top institutions across the country.
